Crunchy PB&J Oatmeal

Which do you prefer: Crunchy or smooth peanut butter?

When I was young, I was a weird and difficult child when it came to food. I was beyond picky, and texture was one thing I COULD NOT and would not deal with.

I thank God my taste buds and outlook on food did a 180 and matured.

I have no preference on which kind of peanut butter I have – it’s whatever is in the cupboard or what I may have already made.

This oatmeal is perfect for any peanut butter lover – and more time efficient for those mornings when you don’t have time to wait for your oatmeal to bake.

Crunchy PB&J Oatmeal

Serves 1


  • 1 cup milk of choice or water

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

  • 1/2 mashed banana

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

  • 2 tbsp. crunchy peanut butter

  • pinch of salt

  • 1 tbsp. jam of choice

  • chopped peanuts or other preferred topping


  1. Bring milk to a boil, add oats, and reduce heat to medium.

  2. Once more of the liquid has absorbed, add mashed banana and mix.

  3. Add vanilla extract, salt, and cinnamon. Stir. Add peanut butter and mix to incorporate.

  4. Once the oatmeal has reached the consistency you prefer, transfer to a bowl.

  5. Add jam and top with any additional toppings – chopped peanuts, bananas, a splash of milk, or a drizzle of honey.

*Alternatively, you can use 2 tbsp of PB2 and chop up a small handful of peanuts instead of using the crunchy peanut butter for a low-calorie option.
